QANUC (Québec/Eastern Canada High Field NMR Facility)

McGill University, Montréal, Québec
What the facility does

Biomolecular nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), solution-state NMR, multi-dimensional NMR experiments

Areas of expertise

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is a powerful tool that provides a window into the inner workings of molecules. It is an invaluable technique for medicine, biology, materials science and chemistry. QANUC’s mandate is to offer Canadian scientists access to cutting-edge solution-state NMR infrastructure and expertise. Through research services, support, training and outreach, QANUC enables investigators from a variety of disciplines to obtain high-quality NMR data. The facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art 800 MHz NMR spectrometer with a high-sensitivity cold probe and a 500 MHz instrument with cold probe for sample optimization and low-cost access for non-field critical applications. A wet-lab area is available for sample preparation, and visiting scientists can make use of our office space. Qualified users may install and run their own pulse sequences, while those less familiar with the technique and software can obtain extensive training and support from facility personnel. Data are stored on and retrieved from a secure File Transfer Protocol (FTP) site.
