Developmental molecular genetics research unit

Université du Québec à Montréal, Montréal, Québec
What the facility does

Research on normal and pathological nervous system development.

Areas of expertise

Our laboratory’s research focuses primarily on the study of the development of the peripheral nervous system, using mice as the study model. We stand out thanks to our ability to generate genetically modified mice models that are unique in the world. These models are used to improve understanding of the molecular mechanisms responsible for severe congenital malformations such as aganglionic megacolon (Hirschsprung’s disease). Our work should lead to better screening, diagnosis and even treatment of congenital malformation diseases.
