GeoEngineering Research Group (GRG)

Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario
What the facility does

Provides soil and foundation improvement solutions for seismic-resistant design and geohazard investigation and mitigation.

Areas of expertise

The GeoEngineering Research Group (GRG) conducts collaborative research in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering, with strong engagement with industry. Research areas include soil mechanics, foundation engineering, geoenvironmental engineering, permafrost engineering, municipal and mine waste management, soil and foundation dynamics, earthquake engineering, and urban geotechnical engineering. The group also studies the geotechnical implications of climate change and develops soil and foundation improvement and geohazard mitigation techniques.

Research services

Experimental testing of soil and structural systems under dynamic and seismic loading.
