Fish Ecology and Conservation Physiology Laboratory

Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario
What the facility does

Conducts fundamental and applied research on the behaviour and physiology of wild fish.

Areas of expertise

The Fish Ecology and Conservation Physiology Laboratory studies the behaviour and physiology of wild marine and freshwater fish in their natural environments. Research combines field-based approaches with remote monitoring techniques such as biotelemetry and portable point-of-care physiology devices to study fish in nature. A research vessel supports on-water research, while a half-tonne pickup truck enables the transport of equipment for field studies. This mobile, field-based approach supports collaborations with academic, industry and government scientists.
