A hub for social research on rural Atlantic Canada
The Rural Futures Research Centre (RFRC) is a hub of excellence for social research on and with rural Atlantic Canada. We collaborate with communities, provide a range of social research services and expertise, and train students in social research methods.
At the RFRC, we provide the infrastructure, training and methodological expertise to gather, analyze and disseminate timely, comprehensive, quantitative and qualitative data about social life in the region's rural areas. With 8 Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) stations, Voxco data collection software, data analysis software and equipment, we have the capacity to conduct and analyze telephone and online surveys, focus groups and interviews, and produce engaging, informative research outputs for academic, lay and policy audiences.

CATI is a structured system of microdata collection by telephone that speeds up the collection and editing of microdata and also permits the interviewer to educate the respondents on the importance of timely and accurate data. The software is able to customize the flow of the questionnaire based on the answers provided, as well as information already known about the participant. |
