This facility is able to design and prototype health-related products, processes and services for use in both clinical and home care settings, increasing system efficiency and healthy living.
The health care system faces increased demands from an aging population, technological advancement and new patient-centred distributed care models. Leading-edge information, technology development and research are essential for addressing the system's challenges. George Brown College addresses this need through a program of research-driven technology development that supports innovation across the continuum of care from clinic to hospital to the home, integrating students to create the next generation of healthcare workers. Research outcomes include designing, prototyping and assessing products, processes and services for use in both clinical and home care settings, reducing the risk of infection while increasing system efficiency and patient mobility, safety, independence and healthy living.
