High Temperature Thermal Analysis Laboratory (HTTAL)

Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia
What the facility does

Application of high temperature thermal analysis techniques to the development of advanced materials processes.

Areas of expertise

The High Temperature Thermal Analysis Laboratory (HTTAL) allows the combined measurements of weight, enthalpy, dimensional and thermal diffusivity changes to be performed on a material during high temperature processing. The facility also makes it possible to identify decomposition gases produced during high temperature exposure. These combined measurements provide unique insight into the changing characteristics of a material during fabrication. This leads to rapid process optimization and the development of new manufacturing operations.
