Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry Core Facility

Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia
What the facility does

Mass spectrometry-based analytical laboratory providing  proteomic, metabolomic and lipidomic services in medical and biological sciences

Areas of expertise

The Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry Core Facility is a sophisticated, state-of-the-art analytical laboratory with expertise in mass spectromety analyses of biological samples. We provide well-established proteomics, metabolomics and lipidomics workflows. In addition, we offer customized analysis and method development in any of these fields of research. Our Laboratory is run exclusively by skilled, PhD-level staff that offer one-on-one support to all our clients.

Research services

Sample preparation techniques for proteomics (desalting, reduction, alkylation, digestion), protein labeling chemistry (Tandem Mass Tagging (TMT)), Stable isotope labeling with amino acids in cell culture (SILAC), Isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation (iTRAQ), dimethylation), protein identification by in-gel and shotgun proteomics, intact protein analysis by mass spectrometry (MS) and tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS), quantitative proteomic profiling (label and label-free), post-translational modification analysis, targeted and discovery metabolomics/small molecules identification/quantification, two dimensional (2D) liquid analytical and preparative chromatography, custom liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) analysis, bioinformatic solutions for proteomics, metabolomics and lipidomics workflows (ProteomeDiscover, Skyline, CompoundDiscover, LipidSearch).
