Investigates the response of foodborne pathogens to high pressure processing
The High Pressure Processing Facility (located within the Bureau of Microbial Hazards (BMH), Food Directorate) provides equipment and facilities for experiments on the response of foodborne pathogens to high pressure processing. Two experimental high pressure processing units are available with 1 litre or 2.2 mL pressure vessels. This equipment is housed within a Containment Level 2 Laboratory permitting experiments with Risk Group 2 pathogens. BMH scientists have expertise and experience conducting experiments on the response to high pressure of bacteria, viruses and parasites.
Access can be provided to two experimental high pressure processing units (1 litre or 2.2 mL pressure vessel) within a Containment Level 2 laboratory.
Assistance is available on background, experimental planning and design experiments with the microbiology of high pressure processing of foods.
