Proteomics Core Facility (PCF)

The University of British Columbia, Vancouver, British Columbia
What the facility does

Proteomics analyses of all biological samples.

Areas of expertise

The Proteomics Core Facility (PCF) is able to perform all types of proteomics analyses on proteins, protein mixtures, cells, tissues, and whole organisms. This includes identifying and quantifying proteins, characterizing post-translational modifications, and determining which proteins are interacting with other proteins.

Research services

The Proteomics Core Facility (PCF) offers a broad range of services, from mass confirmations to large-scale quantitative proteomic screens, along with all the associated bioinformatics. We are also open to collaborative projects on a case-by-case basis.

Some of the services we provide:

  • Measure the mass and identity of a protein or peptide (e.g., to confirm successful synthesis of a peptide or the purity of a recombinant protein)
  • Identify unknown bands from a gel
  • Characterize post-translational modifications on a protein
  • Identify the protein interacting partners of a ligand
  • Measure global changes in protein levels or post-translational modifications (e.g., phosphoproteomics)
  • Monitor the global interaction landscape of cells
  • Measure differences in protein expression between samples or across disease phenotypes.
